CHALLENGE
2019 and 2020 editions of Spindrift, the award-winning literary journal, established in 1966. Key involvement in journal creation process from advertising for submissions, content curation, book design, and final print.
PROCESS
Defined the journal style hierarchy and layout. Designed the most of the journal each year, including the cover, and worked with a team of assistant designers to create a stylistically cohesive book.
Created posters for journal entry information and events, and managed content of around 300 art submissions for accurate journal citation and true print replication.
RESULTS
Unique publications for 2019 and 2020 according to the established tradition of the journal. Excellent literary and artistic content, thoroughly proofed and accurately cited. Compelling and artistic layout styles that establish a consistent look throughout each book.

Spindrift was tremendous leap forward for me, teaching me so much about the process of creating a substantial printed publication. For the 2020 edition, I was also able to collaborate with an experienced professional copy editor who became the literary editor on our staff. Working with an expert 40-year veteran printer, the bindery, a working professional graphic designer who acted as our faculty art advisor, and a professional copy editor gave me invaluable insights into the depth and breadth of designing for publication.
